About Us :: Clinical Governance

The Department of Health defines clinical governance as 'a framework through which NHS organisations are accountable for continuously improving the quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care, by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care will flourish'. Evolution healthcare delivers this target by ensuring that appropriate patient care remains the principal objective of business development and management strategy.

Evolution healthcare is committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical care across all its sites and manages clinical governance through a robust system of self-audit and reviews, and clear reporting pathways. Clinical governance leads are appointed at local level with responsibility for individual practices. Clinical governance meetings are held every two months to review the broad areas of risk management, evidenced based practice, professional development and patient and public engagement and include comprehensive consultation and complaints reviews, regular clinical protocol reviews and audits, and the encouragement of Patient Participation Groups. Evolution also recognises the importance of a well trained workforce and encourages practice development sessions and training programmes, as well as an internal appraisal system to maintain a high quality workforce.

On a quarterly basis local clinical governance leads report to the medical director, Dr Sam Soo, to review any outstanding issues or problem areas and ensure best practice. Through systematic performance reviews, regular clinical meetings and a well-structured reporting system, Evolution ensures that effective clinical governance is maintained and that our patients receive the highest levels of care across all Evolution practices.
